Our Story
Welcome to Access Grow - Where Gardening is for Everyone!
Access Grow was born out of a simple yet powerful idea: to make gardening an enjoyable and accessible experience for everyone, regardless of age or mobility.
I’m Matthew a gardening enthusiast who recently discovered the joy and therapeutic benefits of growing plants. This newfound passion has a personal touch – my grandparents. They have been tending to their gardens the majority of their lives, but are now facing challenges due to age and limited mobility.
Watching my grandparents face challenges with something they love inspired me to create Access Grow, a space where we can all connect with nature, even when physical limitations make traditional gardening difficult.
At Access Grow, we understand that gardening is more than just a hobby. For many seniors, it’s a vital source of purpose and independence. When daily tasks become more challenging, tending to a garden in their own backyard is an activity that keeps them engaged, provides fulfilment, and gives a sense of control over their surroundings.
Our business is more than just a venture; it’s a heartfelt response to a universal need. We understand the hurdles that come with gardening for seniors and individuals with limited mobility. That’s why we’ve dedicated ourselves to providing information on adaptive tools and equipment, ensuring that the therapeutic benefits of gardening are accessible to everyone.
The Team
Matthew
Meet the heart and hands behind Access Grow!
I’m Matthew, and I’ve transformed my love for gardening into a mission. I spend my days crunching numbers as an accountant in Adelaide. When I'm not behind a desk, you can find my in my garden setting up raised beds, trying (sometimes failing!) to grow the perfect tomatoes, or adding yet another succulent to my ever-growing collections. There just something about being in the garden that makes the stress of the day go away.
But I’m not alone. Joining me in this mission is the true inspiration behind Access Grow – my grandmother.
Gladys
This is Gladys, she's pretty much our gardening guru around here.
When most people hit roadblocks in their garden, Gladys finds a way around them. Age hasn't slowed her down one bit; it's just made her more creative. You should see her in action - she's turned her walker into a genius watering can trolley, hauling water to her thirsty plants without missing a beat.
Gladys is full of these brilliant solutions. Her pot lifter helps her shuffle her heavy plants around without straining her back. She also has many vertically hanging plants so she can tend to them while standing comfortably. No bending, no stretching, just smart gardening. With Gladys it's not about doing things the "traditional" way its about finding your own way.
Honestly, so many of our best ideas come from watching how Gladys tackles challenges in her own garden. She's living proof that with a bit of creativity (and maybe a few clever tools), there is nothing stopping you in the garden.
